Why underlay matters
Underlay isn’t just padding. The right grade absorbs impact, improves insulation, and takes pressure off the carpet backing so it wears more slowly. Skimping on underlay is one of the most common reasons a carpet looks tired within a couple of years.
Gripper rod done properly
Gripper rod (sometimes called tack strip) is fixed around the edge of the room to hold the carpet taut. Old, damaged or missing gripper rod is one of the main causes of carpet that ripples or slips — we replace it as standard whenever a room is being recarpeted.
